Sweet & Short… Re-felt Anger!

Posted on 21 May 2011 by Rev. Sonia Echezuria

Around 35 years ago, your best friend made fun of you in front of your classmates simply because you were having an extremely bad hair day. Till these days you:

a) Wish her death.

b) Cry every time you remember that nightmare.

c) Pretend you don’t care but, since then, very carefully, you monitor your hairstyle to make sure every hair is in the right place.

d) Hardly think about it. That was the last time you cared about her. Her cruelty ruined your friendship -and your self esteem.

e) Any and all of the above.

Well, Sweet & Short: darling, you are so resentful that you silently but loudly scream revenge! The word “resentment” comes from its Latin roots resentire, which means to feel the same feeling over and over again. By visiting and revisiting this past experience with a judgmental attitude, the only person that you are repeatedly hurting is yourself. Your friend from the past may not even remember what happened some 35 years ago between the two of you. If fact, she may not even remember you! I invite you to make peace with your past, allow the forgiveness process to flow through you simply by having the willingness to choose to forgive. After all, what this kid did or failed to do probably didn’t have anything to do with you anyway. She was growing through her own insecurities. If resentments have become an issue for you, do not hesitate to look for help!

=)

Sweet blessings!
